The Rugged Mini USB 3.0 is available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 5TB capacities and is compatible with USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and USB-C with the included cable.
LaCie Rugged Design
Not only do LaCie Ruggeds have built in shock resistance but they are now also rain-resistant and pressure-resistant!
According to the LaCie website you can drive over the rugged with a 1 Tonne car and it still works (I am not prepared to verify this with my own unit)!
The famous rugged exterior gives extra protection against accidental drops so it’s great for carrying around in your bag and using on location. That’s why it’s on of the most popular drives for people who work on location video and sound recording.
LaCie Rugged Interface
The connectivity is high speed USB3 which is backwards compatible to USB2.
LaCie Software Suite
The LaCie Rugged Mini ships with backup software for MAC and PC and encryption software (Lacie Private-Public – info here) to prevent your data from being compromised. This will need to be installed from the setup files which are on the disk.
Formatting Your LaCie Drive
The drive can be formatted for MAC or PC and has the option for creating a MAC/PC partition for sharing between both platforms. This is done using the LaCie setup software. When the LaCie is first plugged in to a MAC the setup partition will show on the desktop, simply open up the drive window and double click the LaCie icon and follow the setup steps. On a PC find the drive in list
