Samsung Portable SSD T3 Overview
Samsung have now released the T3 SSD which supersedes the now discontinued T1 SSD range. The Samsung Portable SSD T3 drives are available in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB and 2TB!
Footprint
The Samsung T3 is a tiny portable Solid State Drive weighing in at a mere 51g. With dimensions of 74 x 58 x 10.5mm it’s ideal to fit in your pocket or bag.
As solid state drives have no visible moving parts compared to the traditional spinning HDD they are a lot more reliable and less prone to damage should you drop this unit. The Samsung T3 also has a stylish metal case with a shock resistant internal frame (up to 1500G).
Interface
The Samsung T3 has high speed USB 3.0 interface but uses the latest USB-C type connection. Don’t worry, it will still work with regular USB ports (known as type A) with the USB-C to USB type A cable (cable included).
Speed
Solid state drives are know for being a lot faster than regular spinning HDD’s (up to 4 times faster)! When connected to a USB 3.0 computer running a modern OS, the T3 will give transfer speeds up to 450MB/s. No more waiting around for large video files to be transferred.
Encryption
Should you wish to protect your data in the event of loss or theft there is the option for password protection using AES 256-bit hardware encryption. The minimum requirement to use the password encryption is Windows 7 or higher, MAC OS 7 + or Android KitKat 4.4 or higher.
Yes that’s correct, the T3 will also work with your Android mobile or tablet device! You will need to purchase a separate cable if you wish to connect to Android.
